Ethernet World continues to be the leading event for the carrier community going into 2014. 2013 saw the event embracing the new innovations that Ethernet technologies enable.
The event year on year sees growing industry support and every year sees new operator and vendor companies supporting the event. T-Mobile acted as host operator with Miloš Mastník, Vice President of Business Marketing at T-Mobile Czech Republic stating in a pre-event podcast “we can see a growing demand of Ethernet services as we see these services replacing the classical MPLS. So that is why we are particularly interested with what is going on in the entire Ethernet world and we want to step into this world and into this area.”
2013 also saw the first co-location with the SDN & NFV Summit which provides indepth & technical analysis of SDN and virtualisation technologies. The shared exhibition hall provides solution providers and operators extensive networking opportunities, all under one roof, to celebrate the advancement in technology.
Additionally, the exhibition hall hosts the annual EANTC INTEROP showcase emphasising how important it is “not to lose track and progress in the Carrier Ethernet services that are actually making the bulk of the revenue for transport service providers today” (Carsten Rossenhoevel, Managing Director, EANTC)
Ethernet World brings together the Ethernet Community from across Europe and further afield from leading operator and vendor companies. This intensive three day event with workshops, tailored streamlined sessions on CE 2.0, the current state of play, Ethernet and the cloud, Ethernet for Backhaul, Future Trends and Ethernet Building Blocks & Legacy.
The Carrier Ethernet market has seen rapid growth in recent years, and it shows no sign of slowing down anytime soon. This year alone, service providers globally are investing in excess of US$32 billion in carrier Ethernet products outpacing overall telecom capex.
However, the conversation has now changed as the industry is vying to position itself in the new world of SDN and Cloud Computing. The Ethernet switch market is also undergoing a technological transformation in the data centre as virtualisation changes where and how applications are connected to end users and this change in traffic patterns requires networks with fewer layers and higher bandwidth. These new network topologies are driving entirely new switching platforms.
Understanding and embracing this technological transformation is vital for both service providers and solution vendors to increase and improve their market position as well as making the most of their existing Ethernet investments.
How does Carrier Ethernet tie with the world of Software Defined Networking? What is the case for developing Ethernet-powered Cloud services? How does the Ethernet industry need to transform to lead growth in the new telecom ecosystem?
Ethernet World 2013 provided timely case studies, technology debates, standards briefings and service updates addressing all you need to know about: Carrier Ethernet 2.0, SDN, Cloud, data centres, virtualisation, OpenFlow, OAM, multi-Cos, network edge & layer convergence, performance, optimisation & automation, mobile backhaul and transport network strategies.
Ethernet World moved to Prague in 2013, to capture the growing Central and Eastern European network developments while also securing Western Europe’s expertise. Revitalised with fresh content, formats and ideas, and with a truly global attendance, CEWC is still the leading forum for discussion, networking and debate on the status of the Carrier Ethernet industry.
This 10th annual event seized the rich revenue opportunity provided by Carrier Ethernet, Cloud and SDN. With 500+ delegates and a global reputation attracting operator attendees from over 50 countries and with 70 different operator companies represented, it was the place to do business for the Ethernet industry and to hear from and network with the leading industry experts from the MEF, ONF, Ethernet Alliance, Broadband Forum and global analysts. Experience the EANTC interop, the CE awards and the CE Essentials master class all under one roof.
